How to get a refund on cancelled flights with Jet2.com

January 1st, 2009

So, I booked a flight with Jet2.com today, and it was only when I printed out the confirmation that I realised I’d rather studpily got a ticket on the wrong day (easily done actually, as the interface isn’t very clear).  I checked the terms and conditions, where it stated that they’re a ‘no refund’ airline.  Nice.

I rang up the customer service reps, who tried very hard to get me to change the time of the flight – it was only after about 10 minutes on a 10p per minute phone call that they at last offered me a refund (minus an admin charge).

To save anyone else having to go through this very dull and expensive process, here is what to do when you want to cancel a flight with Jet2.  It involves sending a quick e-mail.

E-mail: callcentre@jet2.com

Subject: Discretionary Refund

Body: Include your booking reference number, and also state that you are aware that the admin charge is £35.

You should get a refund back into your account within 7 working days.

Sorted!

We recently had our flight to Faro cancelled due to the Volvcanic ash problem and were offered a full refund or trasnsfer to next available flight. We took the refund since the problem was ongoing. The full refund was not quite what it seemed however. We were a party of four and the total cost was around £600 with all taxes and the many hidden charges. Our full refund amounted to £220 which is an insult covering only the actual ticket price and not the taxes.,booking fees, baggage charges, seat booking charge,, on line check in charge etc etc.which amounted to nearly £400 on top of the ticket price. So beware full refund does not mean a full refund in fact it is barely one third of the full amount!

Have you been refunded yet? I put in for my refunds on line and have been sent three e-mails that say they are working on it. I did this exactly a month ago!

I am just writing myself to get a refund for the volcanic ash : they emailed me four weeks ago to say this had been processed, but nothing has turned up yet. Appalling that they don't even have an email address you can write to about this.

On Saturday 4th December we flew from Alicante to Leeds Bradford LS272.

I am writing to say how well the two young men coped in the airport for the hours the air control persons were sick!!!!
They found time to answer everyones queries and they kept their cool, even when angry old women started shouting about not getting a drink.
I think a little praise should be given to them they really deserved it!!!!!!

Myself and a friend were due to fly back from malaga to Leeds/Bradford in June last year, the flight had a long delay due to a techincal fault on the aircraft… Hours later they said it was fixed, took off, flew for 45 mins then had to land back in Malaga because it was not fixed!! We were then shipped to a hotel for the night. They said we could be either transfered on to the next available flight free of charge or wait until the aircraft was fixed (which could take up to two days!!) so we opted to go on the Manchester flight the following day but were told there were no seats left… So we checked the jet2 website and booked ourselves on to that very flight to Manchester at a cost of £175 EACH!! Jet2 accept no responsibilty for lying about the flight being full and will not refund this flight…
We were promised a refund for the Leeds/Bradford flight that we did not go on (I have a letter from them saying this!) It is now the end of January 2011 and we are still waiting!!!!! Sent several letters etc but no response or refund!!!

I have spoken to a rep at the call centre in order to cancel flight LS739 on 05/03/2011 and the return flight LS740 on 01/04/2011, reference number 2EFY5R. A mistake was made when booked I have been told to reply on this website with the understanding that a total value of £40.00 will be deducted from the full refund I am being given.
Please would you confirm receipt of this message and that these flights are cancelled allowing us to book again with the correct dates.
Thankyou once again from a regular traveller with yourselves, Mrs J Hewitt.
