Gotye, ‘Your Heart’s a Mess’. Why have I only just discovered this tune?

Amazing. When I got hold of it last night I ended up staying up way way past my bedtime to listen to the album in full – I just couldn’t bring myself to turn it off!

The above video is made with a radio edit. The version on the album is 6 mins long – and though rather fabulous, actually frustrates me because it takes so long to get to the juicy bit ;)

Here’s the album: Like Drawing Blood

Early morning in Edinburgh

Early morning in Edinburgh, originally uploaded by Jebaloo.

On the 34 bus to princes street. A lovely sunny weekend of lacrosse
ahead of me (kicked off with a fitness test first thing – yay).

It’s surprisingly warm in Edinburgh today – I’d packed about 20 layers
in prep, but no need.

Moon overhead on last run skiing down to St Martin

Moon overhead on last run skiing down to St Martin, originally uploaded by Jebaloo.

From left to right: mum, Will and Rosie (my brother and sister),
after a full days manic skiing in somewhat ‘changeable’ conditions
(blizzard etc).
Back to work on Monday after a quick stop-over in Manchester fon
Saturday or a days lacrosse training.

Flying to geneva

Flying to geneva, originally uploaded by Jebaloo.

I’m so excited. Apparently The French aloes have seen the best snow
for a generation.. AND, I’m skiing after the school holidays are over,
so hopefully there will be pristine posted and no queues for the lifts.

Guess the breed

Guess the breed, originally uploaded by Jebaloo.

My mum and dad are seriously considering getting a dog, and the breed
isn’t finalised yet (though they’re quite keen on labradoodles), so
I’m always keeping an eye out for cool looking dogs. Spotted this one
out of a cafe window whilst having coffee with my fellow goalie Lara
yesterday morning.

Does anyone know what breed it is?

Not a bad win, not bad at all!

Pardon me, but I was quite happily asleep!

Sorry for rather unimaginative title. I like the way that Gus has the
same expression as Lucien on the wall. Last Christmas photo I promise.
It’s been a funny little year, and christmas was an odd way to sign it
off, but at least I’m well prepared for 2009. My sister couldn’t make
it home from Doha till the Monday after Christmas, so Xmas day didn’t
feel very complete. We had fun nonetheless, and almost managed to
finish one of the most boring puzzles in puzzle history. It’s still
got one corner to go, but that can wait till we get back from St.
Martin where we’re skiing this week.

Happy New Year all!

How to get a refund on cancelled flights with

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

So, I booked a flight with today, and it was only when I printed out the confirmation that I realised I’d rather studpily got a ticket on the wrong day (easily done actually, as the interface isn’t very clear).  I checked the terms and conditions, where it stated that they’re a ‘no refund’ airline.  Nice.

I rang up the customer service reps, who tried very hard to get me to change the time of the flight – it was only after about 10 minutes on a 10p per minute phone call that they at last offered me a refund (minus an admin charge).

To save anyone else having to go through this very dull and expensive process, here is what to do when you want to cancel a flight with Jet2.  It involves sending a quick e-mail.

Subject: Discretionary Refund

Body: Include your booking reference number, and also state that you are aware that the admin charge is £35.

You should get a refund back into your account within 7 working days.
