A very kind friend of my flatmates dropped by with a chunky roll of scrap filters from the theatre that he works in. Contained within were lots of pieces of four main Lee filter colours, and I decided to stick them up to my window:

This photo is with just the yellow filter. It did appear yellow for a second but the iPhone adjusted, and it came out like this:

Here’s where it starts to get interesting. I started to overlay the filters, this one is the Red and Blue filters combined:

and this is Red and turquoise, my fave by far:

I can’t believe how infra red some of these photos look! So much fun, I’m definitely inspired to start playing with filters more. Also, putting filters onto flash heads will definitely be interesting.

I’m currently camping in an undisclosed location somewhere between
Edinburgh and London. Its my fourth night now, and today was my first
chance to charge my laptop, so i’ve been on a mega photo offload
frenzy. Way too many to go through on the road, so I think it’ll b at
least a week after I get back before I manage to post up any of the
photos.

The project is this. I’ve taken the train from Edinburgh to London so
many times over the last few years, and its a very beautiful journey.
I’ve often wished that I could get out of the train to take photos,
but have always been missioning it home, or back to uni. So now is my
chance! I’ve noted the coordinates of the many sights I’ve often
admired on the journey, and I’m now on the road to visit and
photograph as many as I can. I’m still north of Newcastle though and
am almost halfway through my trip! I’d best speed things up.

So far, 3 days rain, 1 day sunshine, 1 near collission with a train,
25 odd midgie bites, 75cl of Meths and counting: god bless my borrowed
trangia.

This was my first Beltane festival, and I’m definitely going to have to go again. This isn’t because I had loads of fun, but because I missed most of it through being in the wrong place at the wrong time. About 500 people were crowded around a stage, and being a first timer, my flat mate and I thought that’s where we should be too. Actually, the performers were only going to take to the stage right at the end. Once we realised, we headed off to find the party, but by then it had begun to rain, and I was too scared to have my camera out, this was proper downpour style rain! We were sodden to the core, but had loads of fun. I’m sad that I didn’t get that many photos, but at least I have an excuse to go again next year!

Whilst we were waiting around near the stage, random folk who were bored decided to get up on the stage to provide entertainment. Mostly people either did a silly dance, or wrestled each other.
